Today, Kiriu USA Corporation celebrated the completion of their warehouse expansion in the South Central Kentucky Industrial Park. This expansion project began in mid-2015 and brings Kiriu USA’s facility to more than 140,000 total square feet. Since their founding in 2001, Kiriu USA has expanded four times, including a $10 million addition in 2012.

Mark Kimura, President of Kiriu USA stated “We could not have achieved such growth without tremendous support from the local government and community in Warren Count and the City of Bowling Green. In fact we’re adding nearly 10 new jobs with help from the Chamber since our groundbreaking last May.”

Kiriu USA is a subsidiary of Kiriu Corporation, the second largest automotive brake rotor producer in Japan. Kiriu USA supplies approximately 4.6 million rotors to major automakers, such as Honda, General Motors, Subaru and Nissan. Nissan makes up 70 percent all Kiriu USA sales. Kiriu USA in Bowling Green is the only US location of the Kiriu Corporation.

“The fact that Kiriu USA is expanding for the fourth time since their founding fourteen years ago is a testament to the business climate in South Central Kentucky,” said Mayor Bruce Wilkerson. “There really is no better place to do business and we’re proud that Kiriu USA continues to call Bowling Green home.”

“South Central Kentucky’s location is unique for many reasons – including the proximity to the automotive industry in the United States. We are delighted that Kiriu USA has expanded again. We appreciate the support they offer to both our business community and the South Central Kentucky residents they employ. We offer them our sincere congratulations and thank them for their new investment and their continued confidence and commitment to our region.” stated Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon.

Since the expansion project was announced in May 2015, reports from Tomo Tozawa, Advisor to the President and Senior Manager for Business Planning/Design for Kiriu USA say employee numbers have risen 20 percent to 139 full time, permanent employees as of January 2016. Kiriu USA operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to meet production demands; turning out between 400 and 500 thousand brake discs per month.

“South Central Kentucky finished 2015 strong. We kickoff 2016 by celebrating this significant investment in our community,” said Ron Bunch, Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. “We are so proud of Kiriu USA’s successes, providing stable jobs for many in the community and can’t wait to see how they continue to grow.”

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce announced twenty-two projects in 2015, bringing 1,040 new jobs and a total capital investment of over $943.7 million – the largest total announced investment of expansion projects in the last ten years. Last year’s total capital investment for projects was 4.5 times higher than 2010, the closest investment year, with $220,759,652 in capital investment. Warren County finished 2015 with three of the top ten expansion projects in Kentucky, including both the second largest investment project and second largest job creation project in Kentucky for 2015.
