Today, Builders FirstSource, Inc. of Dallas, Texas, announced the location of their new truss manufacturing facility, 120 Kelly Court, in Bowling Green. This project includes a capital investment of nearly $6.4 million and the creation of 79 new jobs over the next five years. BFS is a leading supplier and manufacturer of residential building materials, manufactured components and construction services to professional contractors, sub-contractors and consumers.
"The commonwealth welcomes Builders FirstSource to Warren County and offers our support and resources to encourage further growth in the future," said Gov. Bevin. "Kentucky's manufacturing expertise, central geography, availability of raw materials and logistical advantages will help this expanding business continue to succeed. We are excited to see that growth develop in the years ahead."
Since their founding in 1998, BFS has acquired and integrated 33 companies, including major competitor ProBuild Holdings LLC in 2015. Last year, BFS generated over $6 billion in revenue.
“We are very excited to enter the Warren County area as we expand our operations to better serve our customers in the Kentucky and Tennessee regions. We also look forward to becoming a part of the Bowling Green community and supporting the local economy and the great state of Kentucky,” said Steve Herron, Builders FirstSource Senior Vice President of Operations, Region 5.
Today, BFS has grown to over 400 locations in 40 states and has a market presence in 74 of the top 100 Metropolitan Statistical Areas in the United States. The Bowling Green location is the company’s first location in South Central Kentucky and joins three others in the state. The Bowling Green location will allow increased sales capacity to their Louisville, Lexington, Indiana and Northern Tennessee markets and generate additional business in markets not currently being served.
“Builders FirstSource, Inc. is another great example of the Chamber’s efforts to diversify South Central Kentucky’s economic climate. We are pleased that BFS chose Bowling Green for their next manufacturing location and wish them all the best as they work to grow their presence in our region and surrounding area,” said Chamber President and CEO Ron Bunch. “Because of companies like Builders FirstSource, Inc., South Central Kentucky continues to be on the map for incoming investments. In fact, Warren County was recently ranked No. 1 in incoming investments, including second in the new building permits category by SmartAsset.”
In addition to wood and steel trusses, BFS manufactures building components such as wall panels, engineered wood products, synboard, windows and custom features.
“We are excited to be one of Builders FirstSource, Inc.’s over 400 locations across the United States and one of only four in Kentucky,” said Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson. “We look forward to their success in our community and beyond.”
This $6.4 million project includes the retrofit of the 70,616 square-foot warehouse space on Kelly Court to house BFS’ new manufacturing operation. New manufacturing and fleet equipment, office equipment, hardware, wiring, yard paving and repair and improvements to the existing structure are all included in the capital investment.
“Congratulations to Builders FirstSource, Inc. on their first location in South Central Kentucky,” said Mike Buchanon, Warren County Judge Executive. “There are many advantages to doing business in our region and locating to Warren County is just one of them. On behalf of Warren County, I wish them a prosperous future and look forward to working with them in the future.”
